I’ve always been naturally drawn to adventurous sports, finding myself typically outnumbered by guys whether on a snowboard trip, wakeboarding or mountain biking. It never bothered me, in some ways I revelled from the challenge to keep up and equally push them to keep them on their toes! Then I became a mother and my world changed in many, many ways! As the little rascals started to grow and my freedom started to return more and more, I was desperate to return to some of the sports I had missed out on and start to feel more myself again. Mountain biking being much more feasible in Bristol than snowboarding, I hit the local trails and got hooked all over again in a bigger way than ever before. It was great to be back doing something I loved, my self-esteem growing and the clear health benefits from being outdoors and active.

My background is as a Primary School Teacher. I have also done 6 winter seasons working in France, New Zealand and Canada. I’m a Qualified snowboard instructor with two seasons experience working for Whistler Blackcomb. I have a passion for helping people achieve their goals whether its their first time on a bike or snowboard, trying a new trail, hitting that first ever jump or landing that drop you never imagined you could do, I get a buzz from watching others progress.

The idea of TRIBE was born when I realised how many women seemed keen to try mountain biking but were too intimidated and didn’t really know where to start. Our vision is to see more women out on mountain bikes enjoying the mental and health benefits, supporting other women and breaking down the gender stereotype barriers.

Growing up in Cornwall meant I was forever exposed to wonderful outdoor spaces and so sailing, surfing or anything in water were part of my everyday life - I could never say no to a new adventure!

As I grew up, I took any opportunity to keep being active and try new things - kayaking with Uni; yacht racing with friends; winter and summer seasons in France; snowboarding whenever I could! My friends may say that I am annoyingly enthusiastic and with an older brother around there was always something new to be aiming for.

I must admit that with him plus some amazing strong female role models around, gender diversity issues weren't on my radar. However, once I became a mum to two adventure loving girls I started to notice how male dominated many of the sports I love actually are - there is nothing like the 'why' question from a child to stop you in your tracks! This made me more determined than ever to do something to try and change the picture.

Hannah and I met in 2018 and very quickly realised that we had a similar sporting background - in fact she was the awesome woman who introduced me to mtb’ing. Previously I’d felt a sense of not belonging in that world so I had shied away from it but she enabled me to find like-minded female riders who were super encouraging and welcoming. I felt empowered and it has been an awesome journey with friends for life made along the way. This is where the concept of TRIBE ADVENTURES was born, empowering females to join other like-minded females to get out there and give it a go. I'm buzzing to get more women involved in adventure sports and love being part of their journey, which will in turn help change the landscape of the sport for our next generation of adventurers!
