FAQ’S

The question is…. why not?

Do i need to own a bike?

No! We provide bikes and a helmet if necessary. However, if you do want to bring your own mountain bike thats fine, so long as it’s suitable for off road riding and in good working order. You will also be responsible for any mechanical issues so be sure to bring your own tools and spares that may be necessary.

Where are the courses?

The courses run from Ashton Court Estate - The top Golf Course car park

It costs £1.20 for the carpark with cash or you can pay via the RinGo App.

what should i wear?

  • A helmet, you can not ride without one  (we can provide a helmet if you don’t already have one but these are subject to availability so please do let us know if you require one).

  • Suitable sports clothes for biking, ideally a long sleeved top.

  • Relevant clothing for the weather. Please dress to keep warm if it is cold and always bring a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast.

  • Footwear suitable for riding in. Cycling specific shoes are not essential but closed toed shoes are.

What experience do I need?

No previous mountain biking experience is needed so long as you are comfortable riding a bike and have a base level of fitness to allow you to enjoy the 1.5 hr ride. Mountain biking is a physical sport and there are some hills to climb on the ride but we will take a steady pace to suit the group and there will be stopping points to rest and regroup.

are the trails difficult?

The Ashton Court and Leigh Woods trails are designed with all riding abilities in mind from kids on balance bikes, early riders to experienced riders. The trails do provide challenges, but those perceived dangerous have alternative routes to help avoid problems.

We would like to remind you that our main aim is for everyone to feel at ease and have fun while learning something new so please don’t be nervous… you will love it! The aim of the session is to get you feeling confident on a mountain bike and excited for your next ride.
